About Jack

Jack (he/him) is a Fife-based actor and drama facilitator. As an actor, Jack has performed in a wide variety of roles - being especially interested in modern adaptations of classical texts. Jack is a recent graduate with a BA (Hons) in Dance and Drama from Performing Arts Studio Scotland and has been active in the industry since his early teens - having featured in various theatre productions and web series.

A self-proclaimed franticite, Jack’s acting work is characterised by a strong focus on text, physicality, and ensemble storytelling. His experience spans traditional theatre, devised performance, and screen work. He places a strong emphasis on character detail, emotional authenticity, and the relationship between performer and audience, aiming to create work that is both dynamic and accessible.

Throughout his career, Jack has been fortunate to work alongside respected theatre companies and artists, including Barrowland Ballet, the Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, and Frantic Assembly. These opportunities have heavily influenced his practice as both a performer and facilitator.

Recent performance credits include Orestes in This Restless House and James in Posh, alongside featuring in Two Sisters at the Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh and Wee Man with Barrowland Ballet at Capital Theatres and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, recognised in The New York Times' "What to Watch" list for the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Most recently, Jack wrapped production on the film Lady Macbeth Was Never a Girl by Francesca McBride, described by Sir Ian McKellan as ‘Ingenious’.

As a facilitator, he specializes in workshops in devising, focus, teambuilding, script work, comedy, and ensemble work. His teaching style focuses on collaborative approaches through inquiry-based and project-based learning, working with young people and emerging artists across theatre, movement, and performance development. He also plays a mean game of Mafia.

Jack’s practice is rooted in collaboration, curiosity, and trust. He aims to create rehearsal rooms and workshop spaces where people feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and engaging fully with the work.

Jack explores a wide range of practitioners and techniques both in his work as an actor and drama practitioner. He has taught with Fife College’s in-house youth theatre, Studio 38, for several years, supporting technical and dress rehearsals, show development, audition preparation workshops, production preparation, devised performance, and technical theatre including lighting and sound.

He has additionally facilitated classes for young people aged 4–18 with Mix Up Theatre across Scotland's Central Belt, delivering workshops in performance development and preparation. Jack is also a freelance facilitator for Firefly Arts and ACTS Scotland.

During his degree studies, Jack worked with Edinburgh College, supporting the delivery of their SCQF Level 5 Introduction to Acting and SCQF Level 5 Introduction to Drama courses. He led workshops and supported lessons introducing core acting techniques, delivering multi-hour sessions focused on teamwork, collaboration, and characterisation. He also supported the college's production of Sparkleshark by Philip Ridley and assisted with, and later led, multi-hour group auditions for entry to both the SCQF Level 7 HNC/HND Acting and Performance course and the SCQF Level 5 Introduction to Acting course, providing detailed performance feedback to course lecturers.
